The Legacy of Kiremba Orphanage: Providing Hope and Protection for Over 50 Years
In 1962, a mission of compassion began at the Southern Kiremba Orphanage, located in Bururi Province, Burundi. Established by the Kiremba Pentecostal Church, the orphanage was founded with the goal of caring for infants who tragically lost their mothers during childbirth. The story began with two twin babies from Ryansoro commune, who were the first to receive the shelter and care provided by the orphanage.
Since its humble beginnings, the Kiremba Orphanage has blossomed into a sanctuary for many, with over 1,068 children having passed through its doors. These children, vulnerable and orphaned at birth, found solace, love, and protection in an environment created specifically to nurture them. Over the years, the orphanage has become a beacon of hope in the community, symbolizing unwavering dedication to the welfare of orphans. The Kiremba Pentecostal Church continues to uphold the orphanage’s legacy, ensuring that each child who enters receives the care they need to thrive.
Despite the many challenges it has faced throughout its existence, the orphanage remains steadfast in its commitment to saving and transforming the lives of children who would otherwise face an uncertain future. This legacy of compassion, care, and faith is what makes Kiremba Orphanage a lasting pillar in the region.
